Obviously the format is much different so you don't have to include any default files as I have already stated. However, just because it was legal then doesn't mean it's legal now. Logic would state it cant be that illegal to include the default textures, because a long, long time ago, people had to make a blocks.png, which if it wasnt a full edit (like a specialty pack for adventure maps), had to include all the default blocks as well, lest you want purple cubes everywhere.Īctually, it was terrain.png and there was no purple cubes at the time, not including textures would just result in those things being invisible.Īlso, you're right, that would basically have been a fair use thing because the argument can be made that it was a necessary evil, the more changes you make the more 'legal' your pack would be.
